FAQ

This page is devoted to posting answers to questions that I have received about http://MissAsiaNYC.com.  Some paraphrasing of the questions has been effected to provide me with the opportunity to respond in a more comprehensive or broader manner.

1)  Question:  “Why did you create this site?”

1a)  Answer:  We are on the cusp of a new age; an age in which transgender individuals are starting to be accepted as equal members of society.  This is the beginning of an era wherein transgender individuals will be entitled to equal status, equal pay, equal access, and the equal respect of their fellow citizens.  I cannot stress strongly enough how important it is for this time of change to be recorded for posterity’s sake.  In some ways, this period is akin to that of the Civil Rights Movement, where a group of people fought and prevailed in their quest to obtain equal treatment in society.  The transgender rights movement still is in its infancy; there remain many challenges to ignorance, discrimination, hate, and intolerance that must be overcome.  It is my firm belief that parity eventually will be achieved.

MissAsiaNYC.com is the only library of its type, archiving one segment of the progress that is being achieved in transgender rights and broad acceptance of transgender individuals in society.  This time in history is so meaningful in a broader context to the transgender individuals who work hard and participate in the pageant to represent who they are and their capacities for achievement.  I recognize and applaud their efforts, and I believe that these efforts and their context should be cataloged and preserved for present and future reference; hence one reason I created this site was that it shall serve as a repository of information for researchers, educators, and others who are and will be interested in the exploration of this dynamic period of historic change.

4a)  Answer:  The password protected areas of http://MissAsiaNYC.com may contain personal information of the ladies or pictures of a sensitive nature that may not be suitable for viewing by the general public.  Access to the password protected areas always will be limited to a very few of my Facebook friends, who I know personally.

5)  Question:  “How often do you add new photos to the site?”

5a)  Answer:  My full-time job keeps me very busy, and I do not have much time in the evenings to perform regular site updates.  Often I crop, lighten, darken, etc. pictures to show the models at their photographic best.  That work can take much time.  So, I add pictures when I can, and with no fixed schedule.

6)  Question:  “You must have thousands of pictures on this site.  How did you collect them?”

6a)  Answer:  The pictures on this site arrived from dozens and dozens of different sources.  Some of the pictures have been e-mailed to me, others I have downloaded from locations to which photographers have directed me; still others have been found through searches of the internet.  At the time of collection, each photo on this site had either been e-mailed to me, or it was freely available on the internet for download.
